Waterloo Banquet 1836 By William Greatbach | Rare To Market

The Waterloo Banquet massive engraving by William Greatbach published in 1846. The engraving was undertaken after the completion of the original painting by William Salter in 1841. The painting showed the Waterloo Banquet of 18th June 1836. Greatbach worked exclusively on the Waterloo Banquet between 1841 and 1846 when the engraving was completed.

The completed engraving was published by F.G. Moon, 20 Threadneedle Street, June 18th 1846. The overall measurements are 28½ x 46 in. (72.4 x 116.8 cm.). With gilt frame 92cm x 140cm. The frame with large metal hanging chain to the reverse, and a key to those at the Waterloo Banquet pasted to the back.

Condition report: The engraving in excellent condition overall. Framed and glazed.

Notes: Rare to market. The last known Waterloo Banquet engraving to be sold was at Christies Auction in 2014, where it achieved £4000 + commission.
